Giant retailers Walmart and Overstock.com have recently announced that they are entering into the insurance sales game and they have elicited a healthy response from the insurance industry. Concern and frustration has been expressed by some at the notion that their way of doing business may no longer be relevant, while others acknowledge the industry is changing and that they must change with it. Change is inevitable, the insurance industry isn’t what it was 20 years ago and it won’t be what it is now in another 20 years. The option is to change or become irrelevant.
