Reduce Home Claims By Writing Separate Jewelry Policies

A good way to eliminate potential claims from a homeowners policy and to provide much better jewelry coverage is to write a separate jewelers policy.  MIAA can help our independent insurance agents write these policies directly or through AccessPLUS:

If the jewelry is scheduled on a homeowners policy the losses are filed as a claim on the homeowners policy, clients can loose their “claim free” discounts, there can be capacity limitations, limits per item of jewelry, and most HO policies will not list non-family members with “insurable interest.” Writing the jewelry policy separately can provide, higher limits, higer limits per item, co-insureds, broader coverage in some cases for “mysterious disappearance,” and the claims won’t count against the HO policy if there is a jewelry loss covered by the stand-alone jewelry policy.
